KAFFI KÚ IS A FAMILY BUSINESS
Sesselja Barðdal is a learned server and has a legal education. Einar is the entrepreneur; the farmer’s son with a business education. We are rather different personality types but work well together. Together we have three lovely girls that we are very proud of and we always had in mind to create a place that was child friendly and people could visit and get to know the Icelandic farm equipment. Kaffi kú is located at Garður, where Einar's parents live. He grew up there and therefore knows the farm life well. In 2007, a high-tech automatic farm was built at Gardur, one of the first of its kind in Iceland. The idea of Kaffi kú was born because people were curious about this new cowshed, which was then one of the largest and most technologically advanced in the country. The farmers in Garður have many decades of experience in raising bulls and meat processing on the farm. The meat is used at Kaffi kú, where people can also buy meat and take home. This is why the word coffeehouse is not quite the right word for Kaffi kú, as we can also classify ourselves as a restaurant, Bistro and farm to table establishment. We offer entertainment, good coffee, food directly from the farm and many different kinds of waffles. What makes our cafe different from others is the entertainment, location and the interior view. You can watch 300 cows and calves in a relaxed environment where the cows lie on mattresses, go to massage and get milk when they want. Come and experience one of the most beautiful countryside areas in the country.
